Life 101
July 27th, 2011Learning new things is always my pleasure. Discovering things and knowing the answers to certain what-who-when-why-how-questions is just fulfilling. Deciphering a mystery? Oh man, that’s just so overwhelming. But of course, the most important thing to learn is all about life, how to play and survive it.
They say, the best way to learn life is through others’ experiences.Though the lesson from that experience is not as pure as the one you will experience yourself, it’s quite better and wiser than risking your own life to things you’re not certain. This idea made me wonder about the things I’ve learned about life through others’ experiences. How it taught and changed me. Below are some examples.
1. Never ever get too attached to someone. - I learned this from my best friend, during her breakup with her boyfriend. She was too attached to him she couldn’t let go. She was too dreary and down. So yeah, never ever get too attached to someone you know won’t stick around and just leave you behind.
2. You can never run away from a problem. – This is a lesson I learned from somebody I won’t name. She’s furious with life, everything’s going wrong, and thought of running away from her problems. Eventually, she went astray. Truly, you just cannot get away from a problem until you at least try to solve it, or it will forever haunt you.
3. Never be too proud of yourself. – I learned this from an old friend. She’s too proud of herself that it always cause her so much frustrations in life. Problem is, she complicates the simplest things in life thinking she knows better, but after all, it’s herself she’s fooling.
4. Don’t make decisions when you’re angry. Don’t make promises when you’re happy – Cliche, it is, but never really meant something to me until when someone-I-wont-name showed me how it is so bad to make impulsive decisions. It always ends up wrong and regrettable.
5. Acknowledge negativity, accept the reality. – This one is something I learned from a cousin. She was once consumed by so much negativity about what others say about her, but learned how to accept all it and was able to free herself from having a very bad day. This one is my favorite lesson since I always get a very bad day whenever somebody tries to bring me down :p
So there, 5 lessons I’ve learned from the others’ experiences, but of course there’s more, I just don’t know how to put them on words :p How about you? Can you share some? :)
